ABOUT THE HOME AND PHOTOS

This is my home. When Wes and I moved in, it had been a rental home for 5 or 6 years and had some deferred maintenance, but Wes and I both fell in love with it in about five minutes flat. When we started our search, I had made a list of eveyrthing we wanted in a home and it had about 95% of everything on our list. It was so exciting to buy our first home together.

We rented it for a year before we bought to be certain it was the neighborhood we wanted. It was red brick and had green shutters with white trim, and had an unfinished retaining wall, a garage covered in mildewed carpeting (and cracked and broken concrete beneath it), as well as an overgrown yard covered in ivy that crept up and into the brick and stones of the front porch and side of the house, (which I am still battling to fully remove because it keeps coming back). And we knew the roof would need replacing because it hadn't been done properly when it was replaced in 2010. It had been put on top of the previous two layers of roof. I still have to take care of that.

We painted the green trim a classic black, SW 6258 Tricorn Black, by Sherwin-WIlliams. We painted the front door and flower boxes the same black, finished the retaining wall, removed the carpet from the garage floor, and poured a new concrete floor, and pulled up all the ivy and took care of the yard.   

Even such minor changes make a huge difference in the curb appeal of any home.
