GIA GREGORY | INTERIOR DESIGNER, RENOVATOR AND ARTIST | FOUNDER, GIA GREGORY DESIGNS
A Fresh Start
Gia Gregory has over two decades of experience in design, art and renovation, and as a tastemaker for all things home. Gia owned and ran a fast-growing and in-demand full service design + build residential / commercial construction and renovation company along with her best friend, business partner and beloved late husband Wes, who passed away suddenly and tragically in October 2015. That business, Gregory Design Group, passed away along with her husband.
Opting for a fresh start with her epononymous design firm, Gia Gregory Designs, she looks forward to getting to know you and working with you personally to develop and showcase your personal aesthetic. Gia never tires of the transformations wrought in peoples lives by transforming their homes to tell their story. Gia is continuing to do what she has always dreamed of doing.

About Gia
Gia is not originally from North Carolina, hailing from beautiful Mississippi and the Lone Star State of Texas, but she got here as fast as she could. She loves the area and the people. And she's home now.
Gia was born in Dallas, Texas and raised there and a little town in the Mississippi Delta, and loved growing up where she did, but also loves North Carolina, her home since 2010. An artist since she was a child, Gia graduated from Delta State University with a degree in design, and worked as a designer, and also added marketing and product management to her resume. In those roles, she gained expertise in leading teams of people from throughout the organization to bring products from concept to market; and marketed, branded and advertised those same products at both major corporations and small companies.
Although a self-admitted workaholic and driven personality, and highly successful in product management and marketing, art and design were never far from Gia’s heart, and neither was a passion for all things home. During that time, Gia designed interiors for herself and others, and continued her art as well. Then after marrying Wes, they formed a design firm and worked together to renovate and transform their clients' homes and lives.
A natural redhead with the intensity and passion that legend says is supposed to accompany red hair, Gia gets excited about recreating and reimagining homes and buildings that others can't see value in—then bringing them back to life. She works to create a vision for every design project, has an exacting eye for design and is a tastemaker who helps inform the tastes of her clients, yet creates designs that truly express their personality.
Gia believes that each home has something that it was meant to be and that preserving and bringing a home's character to life is not only an honor, but a responsibility. So preserving and highlighting every home’s originality and one-of-a-kind character is a passion of hers. It is her great privilege to create extraordinary designs and work to bring them to life. Gia is continuing to create art, design, renovate and work to create homes that tell her clients's personal stories and change the way they live.

Life In Historic Downtown WIlkesboro
Gia lived in historic Downtown Wilkesboro in the old Smoak home that some people say is older than its 1960 listed construction date, as they remember playing there as children; and Gia is planning on exploring that further. She renovated her own home in between her other projects — but sold it and moved to an apartment in North Wilkesboro temporarily and after she purchases a new home, she will be blogging about her home renovation and its design again in the future.
Gia loves the entire Foothills and High Country area, and most especially she loves the people, and can't think of a better place to live, work and continue to build a life and business. She has been honored to serve as a member of the Town of Wilkesboro's Steering Committee to renovate Historic Downtown Wilkesboro, and is a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church, where she was honored to serve on their Property and Sanctuary Design Committees.
Gia enjoyed sharing her home with her Mom, and taking care of her before she passed away from cancer in January 2020. For down time, Gia enjoys spending time with her sons, her brother and his family, and the rest of her extended family and has wide-ranging interests and enjoys reading, writing, painting and drawing, as well as walking, hiking and working out. Gia has two sons, Chase and Gray. Chase graduated from Ole Miss Law School in Oxford, Mississippi and was in the Air Force Reserves during his time there and at Mississippi State, and is currently living in Nevada and is studying for the State Bar Exam. Gray left active duty in the US Navy and lives in Texas where he is going to school while working full time. Gia loves to see them whenever she can, and also enjoys spending time with Wesley and William, her stepsons, who live in Greensboro.

Being an Artist Sets Gia's Design Work Apart
Being an artist, as well as a designer, sets Gia and her work apart. As an artist and designer, she can help you create beautiful and functional designs for your home or business. With degrees in art and design, and a body of work, Gia wanted to share part of her art portfolio with you here so you can see the artistic eye she has for beauty in art and design, as well as the attention to detail that she gives to her designs and artwork — the same attention to detail she will bring to your project.
Gia started drawing at age 5, and won her first art contest in seventh grade, when her two of her artworks were exhibited in Dallas after she won first place in her school district. She also won state and regional art contests in high school and college and her artwork was chosen by the judge of all the senior graduate portfolios for his personal art collection. After graduating from college armed with a design degree, she spent three years designing Axminster carpets for over 350 commercial projects worldwide. The carpet designs shown here are at the blueprint stage.
Gia worked with her late husband Wes in creating, designing and executing the installation of a building-sized mural of Doc Watson for the town of Wilkesboro, that took over three and half month's worth of hard work by both and late hours by Wes. Gia continues to create new artwork and enjoys being able to design interior and exterior spaces for residential and commercial projects.
