ABOUT THE ROOM AND PHOTOS

This is my home office and just being in this room makes me happy and creative. This room was put together recently, but nearly everything in it was collected over a lifetime. 
I love this room because I love the gorgeous shade of blue. The paint color is Olympic OL714.6 Victory Blue color-matched and mixed by Sherwin WIlliams. Not only do I love the color, but I love the name of Victory Blue. It feels presidential and CEO-like. It does indeed feel like victory. 

I also love this room because it is filled with my personal artwork, photos, mementos and things that make me happy and inspire me to be creative. I love this room because it is filled with design and art books and magazines. I love this room because it is filled with samples that I get to play with.

The leather-covered desk and barrister's bookcase belonged to Wes and his father before him. The writing desk and console table we found at a damaged freight store, as well as the glass front cabinet and the pineapple lamps. The monkey lamp and monkey card holder make me smile because they were Wes' and he loved monkeys. The dollar bill printed baseball is from when I once worked in financial services and helps me remember that money is a useful tool. The Broyhill carpet and Lee chairs we found on Craiglist. The curtains were made by my mom and given to me years ago. My desk chair is actually a musician's stool that is so comfortable. I'd love to recover the gold chairs one day to add more color but they work as is. The New Orleans street scene prints remind me of a wonderful time in that beautiful old city. The small landscape painting is an old one that Wes and I found. The Madonna and Child cross-stitched picture was from my sister. The ship prints were bought at auction for $40.00. The Gregory family crest was from Wes.

I am very happy with this room. About all I believe I want to do to the room is add more storage in the closet, recover the chairs and add a new overhead lighting fixture, and maybe find a fantastic desk chair, if I ever can. And collect more art and design books. I also love this room because I chose this room to be the room in which I kept Wes' ashes. Although I know he is not here because he is in Heaven, it just feels right that part of him should still be with me as I create, draw, write and plan. He is still part of all that I do and think he is cheering me on.
